The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has recognized Advanced Healthcare Limited, a Ghanaian startup, for its commitment to timely social security contributions for its employees.
The recognition came as part of SSNIT’s National Chocolate Day celebrations, an initiative aimed at appreciating compliant employers and strengthening partnerships with businesses.
Michael Asante, Branch Manager of the Airport SSNIT branch, led a team to Advanced Healthcare Limited’s premises to commend the company for its consistency in meeting social security obligations. He emphasized that such compliance ensures employees have financial security upon retirement.
“We are here to appreciate Advanced Healthcare Limited for being a loyal employer that has consistently paid contributions for its workers,” Mr. Asante said.
He noted that the company’s dedication to compliance aligns with SSNIT’s broader mission of ensuring financial security for workers across Ghana.
SSNIT chose to highlight startups in this year’s celebration, recognizing the crucial role small and medium-sized enterprises play in national development.
“We are focusing on indigenous Ghanaian businesses that are committed to their workers’ welfare. Advanced Healthcare Limited has been one of our most compliant employers for the past six years, making it a model for others,” Mr. Asante added.
As part of the visit, SSNIT distributed chocolates to employees of the company, using the opportunity to encourage workers to remain committed to their jobs and contribute to their company’s growth.
“We want to remind employees that their hard work contributes to the success of their businesses, which in turn secures their pensions in the future,” he said.
The initiative is part of SSNIT’s broader efforts to engage businesses and workers, reinforcing the importance of social security compliance. Last year, the organization celebrated National Chocolate Day with market women to encourage self-employed individuals to enroll in the pension scheme.
Mr. Asante stressed that all businesses, regardless of size, should prioritize social security contributions for their employees. “Some companies may face challenges, but it is essential to ensure workers are protected. Today, they are strong and working, but tomorrow may be different. A pension guarantees their future security,” he explained.
Araba K. Biney, CEO of Advanced Healthcare Limited, expressed appreciation for SSNIT’s recognition, describing it as an encouragement for startups that prioritize their employees’ well-being.
“This initiative strengthens our relationship with SSNIT and underscores the importance of securing our employees’ future through social security contributions,” she said.
Ms. Biney attributed her company’s compliance to her personal values and business ethics. “I believe in doing things the right way. From the start, I ensured that my employees’ contributions were paid because securing their future is a responsibility I take seriously,” she noted. She also credited her Christian faith for guiding her commitment, referencing the principle of giving “to Caesar what belongs to Caesar.”
Despite facing financial challenges in the past, Biney sought guidance from SSNIT and worked with her relationship manager to ensure her company remained compliant. She encouraged other businesses to take advantage of SSNIT’s support systems and prioritise pension contributions for their employees.
SSNIT reaffirmed its commitment to providing income security for all workers in Ghana, emphasising that its pension scheme offers lifetime benefits.
“Whether you are in a private company, a corporate institution, or self-employed, it is crucial to enrol in the scheme to secure your future,” Mr. Asante stated.
