Anlo Dukor Council lauds Mahama over Asiama’s appointment

 The Anlo Dukor Council has expressed appreciation to the President John Dramani Mahama for appointing Dr. Johnson Asiama as the Governor of the Bank of Ghana.

The council described the decision as a reaffirmation of competence and integrity in national leadership.

In a statement signed on behalf of the Awoamefia, Togbi Sri III, the Council praised Dr. Asiama’s extensive experience in monetary policy and financial sector stability, highlighting his suitability for the role.



“Dr. Asiama’s track record as a seasoned economist and central banking expert makes him the ideal choice to lead the Bank of Ghana at this crucial moment. His wealth of experience, particularly in monetary policy formulation and financial sector stability, is a valuable asset that will guide Ghana’s economic recovery and ensure a resilient financial system,”said the council.

The appointment, according to the Council, signals President Mahama’s commitment to upholding merit and professionalism in key institutions, despite political distractions.

“Despite the politically motivated attacks and baseless allegations that have trailed him over the years, Dr. Asiama has remained steadfast in his commitment to serving the nation. His exoneration and subsequent appointment are a testament to his competence and unwavering dedication to national service,” the council asserted.

The Anlo Dukor Council further urged Ghanaians to support Dr. Asiama in his new mandate, emphasizing the need for unity in efforts to restore confidence in the financial system.

“The Anlo Dukor Council stands in full support of Dr. Asiama as he embarks on his mandate to steer the Bank of Ghana towards economic stability and growth. We urge all well-meaning Ghanaians to rally behind him as he works to restore confidence in the financial system, promote sound monetary policies, and ensure the overall economic wellbeing of our nation,” the Council stated.

Reiterating its gratitude to President Mahama, the Council expressed optimism that under Dr. Asiama’s leadership, the Bank of Ghana would regain its strength and fulfill its mandate effectively.

The appointment of Dr. Asiama comes at a critical time when Ghana faces economic challenges, with expectations high for measures that will stabilize inflation, strengthen the cedi, and improve investor confidence.
