BlueSPACE Financial Cloud, in partnership with MTN MoMo, CALBank, Rudder Brokers and leading insurance providers in Ghana, has launched BeINsured, the country’s first USSD-based auto insurance marketplace to bridge the auto insurance penetration gap.
The platform has aggregrated multiple leading insurance brands such as Glico General, Vanguard Assurance and Enterprise life insurance among others, offering car owners the opportunity to compare, purchase and manage vehicle insurance – all through a simple shortcode, *170#.
Additionally, BeINsured provides drivers with flexible payment plan options without needing an internet connection, removing the hassle of paperwork, long queues and complex payment processes.
Head-Digital and Inclusive Banking, CALBank PLC, Martha Quaye underscored the role of digitisation in driving insurance penetration and utilisation; adding that the bank embraced this partnership with BlueSPACE and others to achieve its strategy in driving digital transformation.
She added that as a partner of this initiative, they will ensure all payments made on the platform are safe and “settlement processes are made smooth for the insurance companies and BlueSPACE, as the platform provider”.
For his part, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BlueSPACE, Samuel Amanor, emphasised the platform’s role in bridging the gap between financial inclusion and insurance access.
“BeINsured is not just another digital product – it’s a game-changer for the insurance industry. By leveraging USSD technology and strong partnerships, we are ensuring that insurance is no longer a luxury but a right for every Ghanaian vehicle owner,” he noted.
He also outlined plans to extend the company’s tentacles into other sectors of the transport logistics value chain to support businesses and drivers.
The initiative’s flexible payment options – coupled with instant access via USSD, multiple policies and seamless transactions powered by MTN MoMo and backed by CALBank – ensure that auto insurance is made affordable, transparent and accessible for every Ghanaian vehicle owner.
Chief Product Officer-Mobile Money Limited, Sylvia Otuo-Acheampong, noted that their role is crucial because it enables the ecosystem with technology and innovation, adding that “we want to connect with many institutions”.
Insurance companies at the launch commended BlueSPACE on its innovation for the sector and underscored its role in increasing penetration into the industry.
BeINsured is designed to serve millions of Ghanaians, especially those previously underserved. As a result, irrespective of the car owners’ location, they can secure insurance coverage with just a few taps on their phones.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to supporting brokers with digital tools that simplify policy distribution and enhance customer engagement.
