The Ghana Netherlands Business and Culture Council (GNBCC) has exchanged farewell with the outgoing General Manager, Tjalling Wiarda after eight years of service.
This was held at the company’s annual new year’s cocktail in Accra, marking the beginning of a new era for the organization.
The event, held at the GNBCC Gardens, was attended by a number of guests, including the Deputy Ambassador of the Netherlands Embassy, Katja Lasseur, esteemed board members, and valued members.
Chairman of the GNBCC Board, Kofi Polley, after expressing gratitude to all present and acknowledging the team’s hard work, he launched the 2025 GNBCC Magazine, a special edition celebrating the organization’s founding members and recapping its activities in 2024. He also thanked members, partners, past and present board chairs for their support and contributions over the past 20 years.
The outgoing General Manager, Tjalling Wiarda reflected on his eight-year journey with the Ghana Netherlands Business and Culture Council (GNBCC), sharing key moments, challenges, and achievements. He announced his decision to step down as General Manager, effective immediately.
HIlde Famaey, the newly appointed General Manager commended Mr. Wiarda and the team for their efforts and assured the her outfit that she would uphold his legacy and drive GNBCC forward.
“I am honored to take on this new role and I assure you that I will build on the strong foundation laid by Tjalling Wiarda, driving GNBCC forward with dedication and passion,” she said.
A video tribute featuring messages from embassy staff, GNBCC staff, board members, and former colleagues was played, followed by the presentation of a special gift to Mr. Wiarda in recognition of his remarkable service.
As the GNBCC community bids farewell to Mr. Wiarda, they welcome Ms. Famaey and look forward to a new chapter in the organization’s history.
As Mr. Wiarda departs, he leaves behind a legacy of dedication and service. His leadership has strengthened GNBCC’s position, and his contributions will be remembered for years to come.
