The Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders (GIFF), Customs Houses Brokers Association of Ghana (CUBAG), Association of Customs House Agents Ghana (ACHAG), and the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) have jointly called on the government to tap into the expertise of Dormaa Central MP, John Kwame Adu-Jack.
Adu-Jack, who is also the Treasurer of GIFF, has been praised by industry leaders for his exceptional leadership qualities and extensive experience in the trade, transport, and finance sectors.
His experience as a freight forwarder has granted him a deep understanding of the nuances of the industry, and his ability to communicate complex economic issues has earned him recognition.
The Committee of Freight Forwarders’ Association (CoFFA), which comprises GIFF, CUBAG, ACHAG, and FIATA, has urged the government to appoint individuals like Adu-Jack, who have played significant roles in the growth and development of the industry, to lead the charge in developing the logistics and transport sector.
Kwabena Ofosu Appiah, former President of GIFF, described Adu-Jack as a “gem” who can help boost Ghana’s trade and finance sector. “He knows the transit trade through and through, knows intra-border trade through and through, and he is able to communicate complex economic issues effectively,” he said.
Edward Tetteh-Owusu Akrong, another former President of GIFF, praised Adu-Jack’s role in the rollout and implementation of the Integrated Customs Management System (ICUMS). “He played a key role in identifying loopholes in the system, which saved industry players millions of cedis,” he said.
David Nutakor, Vice President of FIATA, also commended Adu-Jack’s financial management expertise, which he developed through his role as Treasurer of GIFF and Head of Finance Department at KAAF University College.
As Ghana seeks to develop its logistics and transport sector, it’s clear that leaders like John Kwame Adu-Jack have a critical role to play. The trade associations are hopeful that the government will heed their call and tap into Adu-Jack’s expertise to drive growth and progress in the sector.
