After seven inspiring years, Miss N’Adom Darko-Asare has concluded her illustrious journey with The National Spelling Bee Ghana (TNSB-Gh), leaving an indelible mark on Ghana’s literacy development.
Her achievements, including being the first Ghanaian Semi-Finalist at the Scripps National Spelling Bee USA in 2024, continue to inspire young achievers across the nation.
The National Spelling Bee Ghana, an affiliate of the prestigious Scripps National Spelling Bee, has been Ghana’s platform for nurturing talent for 17 consecutive years. Starting at just six years old, N’Adom demonstrated unmatched resilience, becoming a two-time National Champion (2022 and 2023).
Her global success reached its pinnacle in 2024, when she broke barriers and advanced to the Semi-Finals of the Scripps Bee—the best performance by a Ghanaian in the competition’s history.
Reflecting on her journey, N’Adom shared: “The Spelling Bee has shaped me in ways beyond words. It taught me resilience, teamwork and the value of perseverance. Leaving now, at the height of my journey, feels like the perfect way to close this chapter”.
N’Adom’s success was also a family effort. Her brother, the 2019 TNSB-Gh champion, served as her coach and mentor, proving the power of shared dreams and sibling support.
Eugenia Tachie-Menson, Country Director and Convener of TNSB-Gh, said: “N’Adom has been an icon of persistence and grace under pressure. Her journey showcases what determination can achieve. She’s inspired countless young people in Ghana to dream big and aim high”.
Her legacy, marked by resilience and brilliance, sets a new standard for young spellers across the continent, proving that African talent can shine on the global stage.
