The Policy for Economic Development (PIED Africa) has joined the chorus of congratulations pouring in for President-elect John Dramani Mahama, following his victory in Ghana’s recent presidential election.
The Executive Director of PIED Africa, Dr. Daniel A. Anim-Prempeh, in a letter signed on behalf of the Governing Council, stated: “Congratulations President-elect John Dramani Mahama on your well-deserved victory. Your perseverance and the demonstration of commitment to the people of Ghana have earned you this moment”.
“May your experience in political leadership and lessons learned from the past guide you as you embark on this new journey. The people of Ghana have placed their trust in you, and we trust that you will work tirelessly to address the economic challenges and promote unity and prosperity for all Ghanaians,” the statement added.
According to Dr. Anim-Prempeh, the task ahead is enormous and, therefore, demands bold decisions in terms of the economic directions of the country. Mr. Mahama is expected to demonstrate a paradigm shift in governance by appointing competent politicians, high level professionals both from Industry and academia to beef up his team.
This, in his view, will be the genesis of earning the trust and support of the good people of this country.
He also expressed his institute’s support in providing credible alternative policy direction in an attempt to speedily bring about macroeconomic stability and growth. Equally, PIED Africa will support policies with the propensity of improving the living standards of the citizens.
“As you prepare to take office come January 7, 2025, we wish you wisdom, strength and courage. May your leadership bring about a new era of growth, development and peace to Ghana and the entire continent of Africa. Congratulations once again, Mr. President-elect!” Dr. Anim-Prempeh noted.
PIED is bipartisan, non-profit advocacy, policy and research-based organisation dedicated to providing strategic and competitive insights and constructive alternative policy direction to governments on the continent of Africa to ensure that holistic and pragmatic solutions are implemented to improve the living standards of the people.
