The Virtual Career Office (VCO) has partnered with Junior Achievers (JA) Ghana to provide youths with the necessary skills to succeed in higher education and transition confidently into the workforce.

VCO’s flagship programme, Tertiary Unlocked, seeks to bridge the knowledge gap between Senior High School (SHS) graduates preparing for tertiary and tertiary students preparing for the world of work, exposing them to several skills that will facilitate their success in and out of school.

The fourth edition of the programme, held under the theme ‘Strategic Early Career Planning for Sustainable Success’, brought together over 250 young people, including recent senior high school graduates and tertiary students.

It featured a blend of interactive sessions and panel discussions curated to help participants make informed decisions on their tertiary journeys.

Additionally, the panel discussion focused on the theme ‘Developing Relevant Skills for Emerging Careers, emphasising the significance of self-discovery, investing in building and nurturing strategic relationships, mentorship and acquiring relevant skills through hands-on experiences.

The panellists, with expertise in banking, academia and youth mentorship, provided unique insights into aligning education and skills development with evolving industry demands.

Highlighting the programme’s success in the last three years, the Founder and Lead Coach of VCO, Akua Ampah, noted that the discussions at the event help students make the most of their tertiary journey and transition successfully out of tertiary into the world of work.

Advising SHS graduates, she reiterated the essence of self-discovery: “Put yourself out there and do something to discover who you are because when you know who you are, you can make the most out of life”.

VCO provides career support services to help students and young graduates make informed career choices. Through career coaching, skills development workshops, mentorship and experiential learning initiatives, VCO equips young people with the tools and mindset to discover, prepare for and succeed in their early careers.
