The charitable wing of Lantini Limited, THX 22, has inaugurated a borehole for the Have-Fiakpokorpe community in the Akatsi South municipality of Volta Region.
This gesture is part of the organisation’s commitment to improving lives in deprived communities and contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
During the inauguration ceremony, Dickson Assan, Accountant and Compliance Manager of 22 Bet Africa, highlighted the organisation’s dedication to addressing critical community needs.
He noted that THX 22 had previously constructed boreholes in two other communities and supported over 100 individuals through breast-cancer screening initiatives since its inception five years ago.
According to Mr. Assan, the plight of Have-Fiakpokorpe came to the organisation’s attention through the local Assembly Member, who outlined the community’s longstanding challenges; particularly their lack of access to potable water. A subsequent assessment confirmed that residents had to walk long distances to fetch water from neighbouring communities at a cost of GH¢5 per gallon, placing a significant financial burden on their limited incomes.
“The borehole project addresses the community’s most pressing challenge,” Mr. Assan said, adding that THX 22 remains committed to providing further support to improve livelihoods in Have-Fiakpokorpe.
Mr. Elo Akabike, Country Manager-THX 22 Foundation, reaffirmed the organisation’s mission to impact more communities with lasting development projects.
“We aim to create initiatives that transform lives and bring sustainable solutions for the challenges faced by underserved communities,” he stated.
The Assembly Member for Have-Fiakpokorpe, Japhet Festus Gbede, expressed gratitude to THX 22 for their timely intervention, adding: “This borehole will bring much-needed relief to our community, which has struggled with access to potable water for years”.
Mr. Gbede also appealed for additional support to address other pressing needs of the community.
The borehole donation underscores the role of private organisations like 22 Bet Africa in fostering sustainable development and uplifting vulnerable communities.
