Tranquility has a new home. Especially at night here at the Sogakope Beach Resort. Nestled on the shores of the Lower Volta River at the town of Sogakope, it is pure indulgence!
Widely known for its river tourism and mass bread offerings, Sogakope which is home to the Lower Volta Bridge connecting the town to Sokpoe, is the capital of the South Tongu District of the Volta Region.
Sogakope’s proximity to the river makes it a perfect spot for a plethora of activities the hotel offers, including jet skiing and other water sports.
In the evenings, you can unwind with a sunset cruise that rolls under the nearby Lower Volta Bridge, commonly known as the Sogakope Bridge, spanning some 650 metres — the longest bridge in Ghana. During the day, besides yoga, there is also tennis, basketball, horse riding, treasure hunts, among many other activities that can keep you and your party enthralled.
To get there, use the motorway heading eastward out of Accra on the N1 Highway – also known as the ECOWAS Highway – in the direction of Aflao. After about 2 hours, passing numerous interesting rural market communities selling anything from sea salt to heaps of organic produce, you’ll come to the town of Sokpoe, where the Lower Volta Bridge – a vital infrastructure which plays a crucial role in facilitating transportation and trade among West Africa’s coastal communities – strategically connects Sogakope on the other end to significantly impact regional economic growth and development. Make a right turn soon after crossing and follow the directional signs leading the way to the resort.
The interior of rooms here are very well-designed and are super spacious with options for riverfront and beachfront with a standard, executive and suites – suitable for families – selection, each offering stunning views of the water!
The resort is set on a spectacularly spread of land nestled along the still river, with its round huts with thatched roofs, slate slabs pathways and pretty gardens. There is a fully loaded kitchen here that caters all manner of food, but I’ll say your best bet is to indulge in their fish dishes! And understanding that you have come all this way for some pampering, the resort has many delectable optional features that make for great indulgence when you settle down to dine.
