as it climaxes 19th anniversary

StarLife Assurance has made a presentation of assorted items and a cheque to the Senior Correctional Centre of the Ghana Prisons Service in Accra, as part of activities climaxing it’s 19th anniversary celebration.

The items donated include bags of rice, bags of beans, gallons of oil, provisions, drinks, cleaning detergents, towels, a printer, hygiene products and stationary, among others.

StarLife also presented a cheque for  GH¢10,000 to the centre.

The 250 capacity all-boys Senior Correctional Centre was established in 1947 and is the only facility in the entire country for boys in their mid to late teens who have been processed through the criminal justice system but do not qualify for adult prison on account of their age.

Presenting the items, the Head of Brand and Communications of StarLife Assurance, Mercy Simpson, stated: “We are deeply honoured to be able to make a meaningful contribution to the Senior Correctional Centre. As we celebrate 19 years of growth and success, we are reminded of our responsibility to make a positive impact in the communities where we operate. The young individuals at this centre represent a bright future, and we hope that our support helps them as they transition into society with the tools they need to succeed”.

In addition to supporting the Senior Correctional Centre, StarLife also donated medical supplies to the infirmaries of the Ghana Prisons Service in Kumasi, Tamale, Sekondi and Ho. The support aims to bring comfort and dignity to the inmates who reside at the various facilities.

Assistant Director of Prisons (ADP) Millicent Owusu, Officer in Charge of the Senior Correctional Centre, said: “We are very grateful to StarLife Assurance for their massive show of love and empathy to the boys in this centre. Support from companies like you keeps this home running and gives hope to these boys”.

She assured StarLife that not only would the items be used for the maximum benefit of the boys, but they would always remember the love shown to them.

Anniversary activities

As part of activities marking the 19th anniversary, the company recently hosted a series of interactive activities aimed at strengthening team cohesion and improving communication between employees and leadership.

The staff engagement event, held at Mensvic Hotel, brought together employees from all departments, who were grouped according to the company’s core values—Empathy, Leadership, Integrity, Innovation and Passion for Excellence. The event provided an opportunity for participants to connect, exchange ideas and strengthen interpersonal relationships.

This staff bonding initiative is part of StarLife’s commitment to fostering a positive and collaborative work environment, ensuring that everyone feels heard, supported and part of the company’s vision for the future.

Health screening

As part of this year’s Global Customer Service Week and in line with the 19th Anniversary, clients of StarLife Assurance benefitted from free health screening. This initiative gives credence to company’s commitment to promoting the health and well-being of its clients.

The health screening, which was held at the Accra and Kumasi Customer Experience Centres of StarLife, saw clients of the company and members of the general public offered access to routine medical checks, preventative care and wellness advice.

Visit to platinum clients

As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, StarLife Assurance recently visited its platinum clients to better understand their needs and gather feedback on services and products. These visits were designed to deepen client relationships, reinforce mutual trust and explore new opportunities for collaboration.

Breast cancer screening of over 500 women

StarLife Assurance, in collaboration with the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), conducted a breast cancer awareness and screening to observe the breast cancer awareness month from 8th to 12th October, 2024.

The breast screening was held in six (6) regions, and about 547 women were screened in all the regions.

This employee-led social impact initiative reflects the core values that define StarLife Assurance—Empathy, Integrity, Leadership, Passion for Excellence, and Innovation. By harnessing the collective strength of our team, we are not only making a meaningful impact in the communities we serve, but also demonstrating that when people unite with purpose and passion, they can create lasting, positive change.

These activities, the company explains, go to reaffirm its commitment to the well-being of employees and the wider society.
