The globalisation of the MICE industry has led to an increase in business meetings and events being planned offsite and in destinations all around the world which creates a major drive in economic growth and development for many countries.

MICE is essentially an acronym for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions or events.

Meetings like board sittings and such are the type of gathering usually planned in advance and away from the office; and those destinations, intentionally setting themselves apart to provide high value service delivery to woe groups to meet in their facilities, will always win the marketing battle.

The term ‘incentive’ describes the compensation that workers, sales partners or staff receive for their productivity and sales output or any other type of outcome in the form of a trip, hotel stay, excursion or tour package. Conferences provide a platform for finding out what is happening in a specific field. Displaying or exhibiting brand goods in an exposition is an important way to showcase corporate growth and innovation.

Lately, there’s a leaning toward more intimate interactive experiences that help to build networks and cause meeting new people to share knowledge, and all this can be accomplished through events.

So, while MICE is an integral component of corporate communications, it provides destinations or venues like hotels and even countries – when the MICE event command Rotary International kind of crowd – with great opportunity for economic growth and development.

In Ghana, two of West Africa’s finest accommodation destinations, the luxury riverside resort located on the Volta River, The Royal Senchi, and Zaina Lodge, the exclusive safari lodge located in the Mole National Park in Larabanga in the Savannah Region, have teamed up to offer customers unrivalled MICE products. From river cruises during breaks from a meeting to going on safari to sight elephants, this is a win for positioning Ghana as a unique destination.
