The Economic and Trade Mission of Israel to Ghana, in partnership with the Cybersecurity Experts Association of Ghana (CSEAG) and Checkpoint Software Technologies, has organised a breakfast meeting to foster cyber-security collaboration between the two nations.
The collaboration encapsulates Israel’s vision of merging its cutting-edge cyber-security innovations with Ghana’s robust expertise and unique perspectives in order to build a resilient digital future for both nations.
The breakfast meeting, which took place on October 31, 2024, was under the theme ‘Strengthening cybersecurity collaboration: Israel-Ghana partnerships for a resilient digital future’.
Its purpose was to enhance the country’s resilience to cyber threats through knowledge sharing, technology adoption and capacity building. Additionally, it aimed to raise awareness about the importance of cyber-security in the country’s digital economy.
The event brought together key stakeholders from both countries, including government officials, private sector leaders, technology and cyber-security professionals, academia and research institutions, to discuss strategies for enhancing cyber-security and protecting Ghana’s critical infrastructure.
It also featured a panel discussion with cyber-security experts focusing on key areas of collaboration, challenges and solutions.
Deputy Chief of Mission – Embassy of Israel to Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone, Aviel Avraham, in keynote remarks at the event, said that in the field of cyber-security, Israel and Ghana have worked together to establish alliances, exchange expertise and create a learning atmosphere.
He added that the relationship between the two nations continues to deepen across several sectors, citing cyber-security as one of the most promising areas.
“Both nations recognise that secure digital infrastructure is critical for national progress. With Ghana’s digital transformation agenda, cyber-security has naturally become a priority area,” he elaborated.
Furthermore, he said that Israel has been encouraged by the country’s approach to cyber-security, which is both strategic and proactive.
“Ghana has made impressive strides, from establishing the Cyber Security Authority to implementing a robust framework that protects the country’s digital assets. We are particularly excited about the Cyber Security Authority’s annual National Cyber Security Awareness Month initiative, which features series of engagements to raise awareness on cyber-crimes in Ghana,” he added.
Through this breakfast discussion, Mr. Avraham expressed optimism that the two countries’ partnership will continue to produce positive outcomes, particularly as they both welcome new possibilities to collaborate closely in areas like cyber-security research, training and skills development.
Israeli technologies have achieved prominence across a range of cyber-security areas, from AI-driven threat detection to advanced encryption technologies and secure digital infrastructure.
Furthermore, Israel is home to over 450 active cyber-security companies and produces solutions that are scalable and adaptable to protect organisations from today’s most sophisticated cyber threats. Renowned for its cutting-edge technology and a culture of resilience born out of necessity, the nation’s cyber-security firms are at the forefront of safeguarding the digital landscape.
