Chartered Institute of Bankers, GCB Bank partner to foster operational excellence

In a strategic move to bolster its operational excellence and drive customer-centricity, GCB Bank PLC partnered with the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Ghana (CIB Ghana) to launch a comprehensive Banking Operations Certification Programme.

The programme was launched on June 19, 2024, by the Managing Director of GCB Bank PLC, Kofi Adomakoh, and the Chief Executive Officer of Chartered Institute of Bankers, Ghana, Robert Dzato.

Mr. Adomakoh, in launching the programme, said: “We are confident that this operations academy will develop customer centric, multi skilled and the best operations professionals in the banking industry.  Mr. Dzato from the CIB Ghana perspective added, “The Institute is keen to support GCB Bank PLC’s ambition to develop strong operations professionals and future leaders for the Bank.



The programme was designed to equip operations teams to effectively support the implementation of the banks strategy and to dominate the market. The program also aims to foster a culture of excellence and ensure a strong leadership and talent pipeline.

Some of the topics covered include ethics and banking, payment systems strategy, trade finance operations, banking regulations and digital transformation in banking operations.

The programme which caters for all categories of staff was structured into three levels – Advanced, Intermediate and Foundation – with content co-developed by CIB Ghana and GCB Bank PLC.

It was delivered through a combination of facilitator-led sessions, group activities, and interactive learning materials, including videos and case studies. The three-tiered program for 2024 successfully concluded on Wednesday, September 18, 2024.

As part of its commitment to human capital development, Chartered Institute of Bankers, Ghana will continue to support GCB Bank PLC by providing the necessary expertise and resources to develop world class professionals for the bank.
