Medeama SC continued their impressive run in the 2024-25 Ghana Premier League, maintaining their 100 percent win record start to the season with nine points from three matches.

Medeama still has one outstanding match to play due to the involvement of their opponent in continental competitions during the match week three schedule, but still maintains a comfortable two-point lead atop the table regardless.

The ‘Mauve and Yellow’ boys secured a 1-2 victory over Basake Holy Stars on match day four at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park in Anyinase, as Diawise Taylor’s stunning strike in the 64th minute sealed the win for them.

Defender Kamaradini Mamudu opened the scoring for Medeama in the 58th minute, but Holy Stars responded almost immediately, with Isaah Yakubu netting the equaliser just two minutes later.

Determined to maintain the top spot, Medeama did not lose focus and kept pressing until its forward Diawisie Taylor sealed the win in the 65th minute with a stunning long-range strike, maintaining their unbeaten record this season with three consecutive wins.

In other league games, Kumasi Asante Kotoko shared the spoil with Berekum Chelsea in an entertaining 1-1 draw at the Golden City Park in Berekum on Sunday. It took just two minutes for the Porcupine Warriors to take the lead through Michael Kyei Dwamena, giving them hope that they were going to demolish their stubborn rivals at Golden City Park, a place they always struggled to win a game; but unfortunately, Zackaria Fuseini pulled parity in the 61st minute.

In the end, the two teams failed to break down each other despite the desperate attempt by Asante Kotoko to walk away with victory in Berekum.

After three games in the 2024/25 GPL season, the Porcupine Warriors are unbeaten with one win and two draws with one outstanding match.

The Head Coach of Asante Kotoko, Prosper Narteh Ogum, speaking after the match, has assured the fans that his team will continue to work hard to win games to make them happy.

Arch-rival of Asante Kotoko, the Hearts of Oak also continued in their disappointment after sharing the spoils with Nations FC in a goalless week four game.

Nations FC and Hearts of Oak could not break each other in an exciting encounter at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese-Kumasi on Sunday. The Phobians were hoping to pick up another three points as promised by their home fans after picking all three points for the first time this season in the week three game, defeating Bechem United 2-0 at the University of Ghana Stadium. But Nations remained resolute to keep their unbeaten home record intact this season.

FC Samartex survived a late scare to beat resilient Vision FC 2-1 at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena on Sunday. Michael Ephson’s injury-time winner secured the maximum points for the Timber Giants.

Edward Agyemang put the ball into his own net before Edward Agyemang scored to level matters. But Michael Ephson stepped up to score the match-winner in the 92nd minute for ‘The Timber Giants’.

In another match, Karela United recorded their first win of the season with a vital 2-0 win over struggling Legon Cities at the University of Ghana Stadium.

The ‘Pride and Passion’ ended their poor run of results with a remarkable win in the capital to pile pressure on the Royals. Giyasu Ibrahim and Muhammed Hadi scored a goal in each half to help Karela United to the crucial win that lifted them from last but one to 11th position on the league table.

Legon Cities sit at the bottom of the league table with just a point after four matches in the 2024-25 Premier League campaign.

In Way Away Bechem, Christian Owusu’s own goal condemned Dreams FC to a 1-0 defeat at Bechem United in Sunday’s matchday four crackers.

Owusu turned the ball into his net in the 32nd minute at the Nana Gyeabour Park as Bechem United bagged their first win.

Newly promoted side, Young Apostles FC came from behind to beat Aduana FC 3-2 in a five-goal thriller at the Wenchi Sports Stadium on Sunday. Rahman Rulf Abdul emerged as the hero with a superb brace to deliver the side’s first Premier League win at the Nana Abrefa Nketia VII Park.

Mohammed Muftawu opened the scoring for the home side before Emmanuel Marfo scored two goals for the visitors. But Rahman Rulf Abdul’s double late in the second half ensured victory for the home side.

In Kpando, Heart of Lions failed to make home advantage count as they drew 0-0 with GoldStars FC. Bashir Hayford’s men struggled in front of the goal as the two teams shared the points.
