In celebration of its 19th anniversary, Zenith Bank – a leading financial institution in the country – has held a health walk to encourage healthy living among its employees and clients.

The event, dubbed ‘19 years of financial innovation and excellence’, brought together board members, management, staff, customers and stakeholders of the financial institution.

Held annually, the health walk symbolises the bank’s commitment to wellness and shared growth of its ‘family’ – customers and stakeholder.

Participants walked from the bank’s head office at Ridge in Accra through Trade Fair, Circle and back – completing an eight-kilometre route in two hours.

Managing Director of Zenith Bank Ghana, Henry Onwuzurigbo, addressing participants during the event, said: “Health is wealth. Let us put fitness first and give up our sedentary way of living. We had to shut down our elevator for one week just to get our staff in shape for this walk”.

Additionally, he acknowledged the importance of the bank’s customers, noting that they are the reason it is still in business.

Also, he assured that Zenith Bank, being customer-centric, will continue operating in the customers’ best interest.

“And to you our customers, I thank you for your immense support. I promise that Zenith Bank would continue serving your best interests,” he said.

In demonstrating its commitment toward celebrating academic excellence, the bank, signed a contract with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) this year to sponsor the Overall Best WASSCE Candidate award for the next five years, he further said.

Additionally, he said it donated 20 laptops to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and 10 desktop computers to the Ho Technical University (HTU), among others.

With the bank celebrating its 20th anniversary next year, the MD alluded to higher expectations.

Dignitaries who participated in the health walk included Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana – Ibok-Ete Ibas, and the bank’s Board Chair – Mrs. Freda Yahan Duplan.
