The African Sustainable Energy Centre (ASEC), a leading energy think tank, has garnered four nominations in this year’s prestigious Ghana Energy Awards.
ASEC’s nominations span across key categories, including Innovation Project of the Year, Energy Think Tank of the Year, Outstanding Local Content Initiative of the Year, and Clean Energy Initiative of the Year.
ASEC is competing alongside notable institutions such as the Electricity Company of Ghana, Volta River Authority, D. McHall Project Consulting, Helios Solar, Empower Playgrounds, Meinergy Technology, GYE NYAME Card Global, Energy Commission, GCB Bank PLC, Webber Energy, and AGI Energy Service Centre, among others.
The Ghana Energy Awards, organised by the Energy Media Group (EMG) and endorsed by the Ministry of Energy and the World Energy Council, has been recognising excellence in the energy sector since 2017.
This year’s event, themed ‘The role of local content in building the energy sector’, aims to highlight the importance of local expertise and technology in ensuring a secure and sustainable energy future for Ghana.
Several key members of ASEC have also been individually nominated in various categories for their contributions to the sector. Notably, ASEC’s Executive Director, Justice Ohene-Akoto, has been shortlisted for the Visionary Leadership Award.
Other ASEC members nominated include: Karikari Achireko Kwagyan (Director, Energy & Climate Finance); Miriam Randolph-Akushie (Director, Business Development); and Dr. Elvis Twumasi (Director, Research & Innovation) – who have been for the Rising Star Individual category. Dr. Twumasi has also been nominated for Energy Advocate.
In the Green Trailblazer category, both Dr. Twumasi and Achireko Kwagyan have been shortlisted. Dr. Twumasi is further nominated for the Energy Signature Award.
