This year’s 3rd Western Regional Oil and Gas Excellence Awards Dinner is due to be held at the elegant Akroma Plaza Hotel in Takoradi on Friday 4th October 2024. This follows the successful staging of the first two editions of the Awards Ceremony in 2022 and 2023.
The Western Regional Oil and Gas Excellence Awards Scheme was instituted by the Western Regional Co-ordinating Council in 2022 to be organised annually in commemoration of the date of First Oil (15th December 2007). However, this year’s Awards Ceremony has been brought forward because of the 7th December Presidential and General Elections.
A Note issued under the hand of the Western Regional Minister observed that “the discovery of oil in commercial quantities off Cape Three Points in the Western Region on 15th December, 2007, is expected to serve as a major catalyst for the economic development, not only of the Western Region but of Ghana as a whole”.
The Western Regional Oil and Gas Excellence Awards Scheme is being implemented under the auspices of the Western Regional Co-ordinating Council by Top Brass Ghana, headed by Isaac Dakwa, a retired Director of the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
According to Mr. Dakwa, Director of Top Brass Ghana, the Western Regional Oil and Gas Excellence Awards Scheme is being organised under the poignant theme: “Ghana: Towards an Oil-led Economic Development” with the objective of acknowledging the vital contribution of the Oil and Gas fraternity to the economic development of the Western Region and indeed of the entire country, and honouring deserving Oil and Gas industry operators in the hope of motivating them to strive for entrepreneurial excellence.
The Western Regional Minister, Hon. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah will grace the occasion as the Guest of Honour in the royal presence of the President of the Western Region House of Chiefs. The Awards Dinner will be chaired by Rev. Prof John Frank Eshun, Vice-Chancellor of the Takoradi Technical University.
