Technology Information Confederation Africa (TICON Africa), the leading Pan-African ICT professional body dedicated to advancing knowledge, education, and collaboration for technology professionals across the African continent, is proud to present its 2nd Annual TICON Africa Conference, hosted in partnership with the ICT Association of Kenya (ICTAK).
TICON Africa serves as a unifying platform for ICT professionals across Africa, aimed at promoting excellence in technology through education, networking, and collaboration among our members.
Its goal is to bring together a community of like-minded professionals who share a passion for advancing technology and driving innovation in Africa. This conference will be held in tandem with the African Marketing Confederation Conference 2024, co-hosted by the Marketing Society of Kenya (MSK).
In just about 9 days, the 2nd Annual TICON Africa Conference is set to take place from September 25-27 in Mombasa. This event will bring together ICT professionals from across the continent to discuss and advance ICT solutions for sustainable development. This year’s event will be held at the breathtaking Sarova WhiteSands Beach Resort in the vibrant city of Mombasa, Kenya.
Under the primary theme “Advancing ICT Solutions for Sustainable Development in Africa”, serving as a focal point for riveting keynote addresses, in-depth panel discussions, and various other sessions, the conference will feature workshops, and presentations on subthemes – Strengthening digital infrastructure and access; Harnessing the power of AI and big data; Addressing cybersecurity and data privacy challenges.
The keynote speaker for this year, Nyimpini Mabunda, is a seasoned executive and business strategist renowned for exceeding performance metrics and driving transformative changes at leading, diversified multinational corporations. He has a proven track record of removing roadblocks and surpassing ambitious business goals in South Africa, United Kingdom, and Uganda.
Held in Kampala, Uganda last year, TICON Africa Conference 2023, brought together ICT professionals, experts, and thought leaders from various African countries. With the theme, “Unifying ICT Talent to Power the African Continent to 2030 and Beyond,” the conference aimed to address critical issues and opportunities in the African tech landscape. TICON Africa Conference 2023 featured two prominent keynote speakers from Ghana – Prof. Robert E. Hinson, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the Ghana Communication Technology University, and Prof. Fred McBagonluri – Provost and President at Academic University City College, Ghana.

TICON Africa Awards 2024
The prestigious TICON Africa Awards are an integral part of the revolutionary Technology Information Confederation Africa Conference. The awards celebrate outstanding industry professionals and tech innovators who have boosted both their country’s and Africa’s ICT industry, making contributions that have progressed the technology and communication sectors on the continent and creating new opportunities for its people.
The 2023 Awards represented a momentous occasion in celebrating and acknowledging the remarkable efforts of the continent’s top technology professionals who have played a pivotal role in propelling Africa’s information technology landscape to new heights.
The categories for TICON Africa Awards 2024 are:
ICT Young Professional of the Year: The ICT Young Professional of the Year award honors individuals under 30 who demonstrate excellence in their field and uphold ethical standards, positively impacting their country’s industry. Nominees must be residents of a TICON Africa member country, possess at least five years of IT experience, excel in their organization, actively pursue further ICT learning, and make notable industry contributions.
ICT Professional of the Year: The ICT Professional of the Year award acknowledges individuals who excel in ICT, stay abreast of the latest developments, and maintain ethical standards, serving as industry role models. Nominees, who must reside in a TICON Africa member country, possess at least five years of IT experience, work in an ICT role or manage significant projects, and have pursued at least 30 hours of further learning in the past two years.
Tech Business Leader of the Year: The ICT Africa Tech Business Leader of the Year award celebrates individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership in ICT and have made substantial contributions to the industry across at least three African countries in the past year. Nominees, who should be well-versed in the latest industry trends and uphold professional ethics, must reside in a TICON Africa member country, possess a minimum of five years of experience as a business leader in IT, and have been involved in projects or initiatives executed in one or more African countries during 2023.
As a ground-breaking Pan-African body, TICON Africa is committed to fostering the continuous development of the highest standards of IT knowledge and practice across the continent, and with these awards, we pay tribute to the brightest minds and innovations in the African ICT industry.

The Technology Information Confederation Africa (TICON Africa) is the ground-breaking Pan-African body of technology professionals spearheading the ongoing development of the highest possible standards of information technology knowledge and practice across Africa. It is a continental nonprofit organization which aims at adding value to African ICT professional associations across the continent through research and development on ICT needs on the African continent; publications of ICT related activities in various countries for knowledge sharing of best practices; education to build capacity of ICT professionals in various countries through professional qualifications; networking events such as annual conferences that brings together ICT professionals from different African countries to share knowledge and business contacts, and finally, revenue mobilization for capacity building of professionals in various countries.
Founded in 2022, its founding members are ICT Association of Zimbabwe (ICTAZ), Information and Communications Technology Association of Zambia (ICTAZ), Institute of ICT Professionals, Ghana (IIPGH), ICT Association of Uganda (ICTAU), South African ICT Association (SAICTA), Botswana Information Technology Society (BITS), and ICT Association of Malawi, with its first elected president from Ghana (David Gowu, IIPGH).
