GREL presents scholarship to 22 students

The Ghana Rubber Estates Limited (GREL) has presented scholarship packages to 22 students who gained admission at the various tertiary institutions for the 2023/2024 academic year.

The beneficiaries are from the operational area of the company in the Western, Central and Eastern Regions. The scholarship scheme is the company’s commitment in promoting education and providing opportunities for the youth.



At a brief ceremony at Agona Nkwanta in the Ahanta West Municipality of the Western Region, Peter C. K. Atuora, Community Relations Manager of GREL, said: “We firmly believe that investing in education is crucial for the development of the society”.

He noted that human development is very important for the progress of a community, the region and the country at large.

He explained that the company received 64 applications and then 53 availed themselves for an aptitude test, out of which 22 were successful and have benefitted from the scheme.

He further said: “We are in a knowledge-based world, go and gain knowledge and apply it in your day-to-day activities; or else, you will be left out. Make sure you utilise this opportunity very well”. Again, he pointed out that GREL would be following progress in their academic work.

“As GREL lifts you up, you should also stay in the course of time, lift others up in your various communities, and keep the doors of opportunity and progress open to all around , most importantly those coming after you” Mr. Atuora advised the scholarship recipients.

Nana Kwesi Agyemang IX, Chairman of the Association of Chiefs on Whose Land GREL Operates (ACLANGO), praised the company for supporting in the education and health, among other areas in the communities they operate.

He advised the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity offered. “Take your studies seriously and make good grades.”

“As an association, we will not hesitate to withdraw the scholarship from you, if you do not make good grades”, he cautioned.

Obrempong Hemaa Dekyi XIV, Paramount Chief of Lower Dixcove, mentioned that the GREL Scholarship Scheme, is one of the best in the country.

“This company absorbs all the fees according to the programme you offer, and pays your hostel fee, among others. This should encourage you to learn more so you would be able to come back and develop your community,” he added.

He also advised the students to be disciplined, respectful and attach importance to everything concerning their academic work.

Vida Esson, a scholarship beneficiary, thanked GREL for the opportunity and assured: “We will make you proud”.
