Olam Agri’s Grains Business, operators of a state-of-the-art wheat mill in Tema and a leading manufacturer of wheat flour in Ghana, has partnered with the Ennoble Africa Foundation to empower children at the Nyamedua Children’s Home in Adenta near Accra.
The intervention, initiated under the “Baking for the Needy” project, provided some 150 children with vocational skills, mentorship, and a fun-filled learning experience.
Olam Agri Grains sought to equip the children with valuable life skills and confidence to build brighter futures, by teaching them the best baking techniques. This partnership aims to foster the entrepreneurial potential of children who wish to venture into baking.
The initiative aligns with Olam Agri’s commitment to increasing access to nutrition and promoting healthy baking practices within the communities. Through various projects such as the ‘Bakery Hygiene Program’, ‘My Healthy Baker’ initiative, and the ‘Grains of Friendship’, the company has actively promoted best practices in the industry while enhancing food safety among bakers.
The Business Head for Olam Agri’s Gains Business, Soumy Saxena, said, “Here at Olam Agri, we believe in empowering individuals and communities. We are pleased to partner with Ennoble Africa to share our passion for baking with these children. We believe this will go a long way to equip them with some basic skills and the confidence they need to succeed.”
“Our goal is to provide these children with a solid foundation for their future. By teaching them valuable life skills like baking, we’re helping them develop the confidence and skills they need to become self-sufficient and contribute positively to the community.” Team Lead for Ennoble Africa Foundation, Dulcie Delali Attipoe, said.
