The 2024 cohort of university graduates and emerging professionals from Lead for Ghana (LFG) has been encouraged to embrace data and push boundaries where others see limitations as they step into leadership roles in the workforce.
LFG’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Daniel Dotse, who said this at the organisation’s 2024 Training Institute opening ceremony, and the 9th induction ceremony for 277 of LFG fellows into its alumni network in Accra, intimated that, striving towards data-driven leadership would enable them to make smarter, more sustainable decisions that create long-term impact.
“We live in an era where information is abundant, but wisdom comes from those who know how to use data effectively. As you embark on your fellowship, let data be your compass.
“Data doesn’t just mean numbers- it is the stories your students tell you, the patterns you observe in your classrooms, and the insights you gather from the communities you serve. Let evidence guide your teaching, your planning, and your problem-solving,” he elaborated.
He added that the organisation remains steadfast in its mission to ensure that every child in the country has access to quality education, regardless of their socio-economic background or location- as education is the key to solving societal challenges and creating a more equitable future for all.
Furthermore, he urged the inductees who he described as leaders, to be bold, challenge the status quo, ask difficult questions and inspire others to do same.
Also, he encouraged them to ignite curiosity, spark conversations, and empower the next generation to think critically. “Bold leadership is not about being loud or forceful- it is about having the courage to step into discomfort, to take risks, and inspire others to do same.”
The LFG’s 2024 Training Institute Opening Ceremony is under the theme, “A Decade of Impact: Inspiring Leadership, Empowering Minds.
This year’s cohort would embark on an intensive training program, preparing them to serve in 50 Senior High Schools (SHS), Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS), and STEM institutions across the country.
Meanwhile, the Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Edutwum, in a speech read on his behalf, thanked the organisation for being a beacon of hope and transformation in the country.
Touting government’s achievements in the education sector he said that the first batch of tablets under the ‘One Student One Tablet’ initiative has been distributed for the very purpose of empowering students and bridging the digital divide and laying a good technological foundation for them.
He added that government has also begun the implementation of the Ghana Smart School Project to transform education across the country by enhancing the education experience of SHS and TVET schools.
Also, he said by investing in technology, government is improving the learning outcomes of students, making sure that education is not only accessible but impactful.
Founded in 2013, LFG is a leadership development organisation nurturing a nationwide movement of leaders to extend educational opportunities to children across the country. It recruits graduates to teach science, maths, information technology and English in challenging environments across the country.
