International Precious Metals Bulion (IPMB) has inaugurated a water project aimed at improving the livelihoods of communities impacted by illegal mining activities.
This initiative marks the beginning of a collaborative effort between IPMB and the local community to construct 50 boreholes to drive positive change and social development.
At the project’s launch ceremony, IPMB founder John Vakis emphasised the critical importance of access to clean water, stating: “Water is life, and it’s essential for a better source of livelihood”. His speech highlighted the organisation’s commitment to supporting the community’s well-being and prosperity.
Director-IPMB Africa and Ground Operations, Ohene Dankwa Agyeman Duah, also stressed the need for clean water, noting its transformative impact on the community’s quality of life. “Access to good, clean water is essential for enhancing the lives of our people,” he said.
For his part, the chief of Kyebi-Afiesa, Otafregya Agyeman Kumaning II, expressed gratitude for IPMB’s initiative and called on other international organisations to follow suit. “We urge other bodies to bring social relief and interventions to alleviate the challenges faced by our community,” he said.
In attendance were Osagyefo Ampem Anye Amoampong III, Omanhene of Wenchi traditional area in the Bono Region, among other eminent and distinguished guests.
The project is seen as a crucial step toward improving health needs of the community. IPMB’s commitment to social responsibility and community development is expected to have a lasting impact on communities set to receive this gesture.
