St. Rose’s Old Students Association (ROSA) has handed over a newly constructed dining hall facility to the school, ensuring a hygienic eating environment.

The fully furnished project worth GH₵480,000 was spearheaded by the 1983, 93/95, 2003 and 2013 year-groups.

The facility was unveilled during the school’s annual thanksgiving celebration this year, aimed at addressing the pressing need for a conducive students’ dining space in the face of increasing accommodation needs for a growing student population of over 1,700.

Executives of ROSA stated that the previous dining hall had become inadequate for the expanding student population. However, government’s inability to expand the existing infrastructure due to pressing financial constraint informed ROSA’s decision to intervene.

“Construction began on February 15, 2024, with contractor Freemaks at the helm. The project involved demolishing the old structure, clearing the site, and building a new substructure. Despite the ambitious scope, the team completed its work within six months, meeting the timeline set by funding groups,” ROSA stated.

The project is a demonstration of alumni associations’ vital role and the incredible impact they can have when there is collaboration and government recognises them as important stakeholders.

“We’ve not only eased congestion but also created a multi-purpose space that will benefit both the school and its wider community,” it added.

The school’s headmistress, Marian Esi Jackson, expressed her gratitude for the new dining hall. “This facility is a game-changer for our school. It not only solves our immediate space concerns but also provides a modern, multi-purpose area that will enhance our students’ daily experiences.

“The impact of alumni support on the school’s development from the dedication of our old students is truly inspiring, their investment in our school’s infrastructure directly contributes to the quality of education we can provide,” she said.
