The Nzuri Uhai Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to empowering and transforming the lives of females and the youth, held its inaugural Rise Up Youth Summit at Accra Girls Senior High School on Sunday, August 18, on the school’s premises.

Led by US-based Ghanaian lawyer, Dionne Akom Tweneboah Esq, the foundation is dedicated to empowering the next generation of leaders by fostering sustainable change and providing the necessary resources and opportunities for individuals to reach their full potential.

The Rise Up Summit lived up to expectations as Mrs. Tweneboah delivered an inspiring message to students, urging them to believe in themselves as they navigate life’s challenges.

Speaking to an audience of over 300 students in the school’s assembly hall, she emphasised the critical importance of self-belief in unlocking one’s potential and achieving success.

She encouraged the students to consider factors such as clarity, commitment, stepping outside their comfort zones, and avoiding the lure of instant gratification when setting goals.

“Believing in yourself is essential to unleashing your talent and achieving greatness,” Mrs. Tweneboah remarked. “Without self-belief, no amount of encouragement or motivational words can propel you to the top.” She also highlighted that success is a personal journey, stating, “My definition of success might not be your definition, and that’s perfectly fine.”

Following the summit, Mrs. Tweneboah shared her reflections with journalists, noting the transformation she witnessed among the students. “My biggest takeaway is seeing their confidence boost. At the start, many students were timid, speaking quietly with their heads down. By the end, they were speaking confidently, sharing their ambitions with pride and determination,” she observed.

Digital Marketing Professional Edward Asare, who was one of the guest speakers, touted the efforts of Mrs. Tweneboah stressing that events like these are encouraged because most young ladies don’t know how and where to pursue their dreams in life. He said this will go a long way in realizing their purpose in life.

The students expressed their excitement about the summit, noting that the lessons learned would guide them in their future endeavors and requested the organizers to come back for a second time. One student who spoke said she was shy and timid; however, her confidence had been boosted because of today’s session.

“At first, I was shy and timid, but because of what she told us today, I decided to stand up to speak to the media and with this, I am certain, I have improved,” she said. Another appreciated the convener for inspiring them to believe in themselves. “We want to thank Dionne Akom Tweneboah for what she has done for us. For bringing us this information and inspiring us to rise up in what she believes in. For bringing us such packages because we have really learned a lot.”

The event featured an interactive panel discussion with Digital Marketing Professional Edward Asare and Founder/CEO of Naaviq Company Ltd, Victoria Naashika Quaye.

Other notable attendees included Ama Hila, Winner of the maiden edition of Ghana’s Most Beautiful (GMB), and Delasie Dogbey, Founder of LWR Organization and Mindset Coach.

As part of the summit’s contributions, a 10,000-liter water storage tank was donated by Nzuri Uhai Foundation to the school, which was received by the school chaplain, Reverend Jonathan.
