The National Information Technology Agency (NITA) will commence the National Information Communication Technology (ICT) Week.
The week-long celebrations will take place at the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre for Excellence (AITI-KACE) from Monday, August 26th to Friday, August 30th, 2024.
The National ICT Week, created by the National ICT Regulator, NITA, as an annual event, will bring together key industry players, professionals, government representatives, and the public to explore the latest trends, innovations, and opportunities in the ICT sector. The event was launched last year.
The maiden celebration, under the theme “Driving Digital Transformation,” will feature keynote speeches, panel discussions, workshops, exhibitions, and networking sessions aimed at promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing.
These activities will showcase the significance, relevance, and contributions of ICT to national development.
Speaking ahead of the event, the Director General of NITA, Mr. Richard Okyere-Fosu, stated that the commencement of the National ICT Week fulfills the promise he made during last year’s launch.
He said, “We are happy to host the first National ICT Week celebration, and we have put together a well-thought-through program that will be worth the attention, time, and participation of all stakeholders.”
The activities planned for the Week celebration include discussions on “Digital Inclusion” to shed light on Ghana’s policies, programs, initiatives, and collaborations in bridging the digital gap.
There will also be a Capacity Building Workshop, a Digital Trust Conference (expected to be an annual conference during ICT Week), and sessions on innovation).
The special guest of honor will be the Honorable Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful.
Other attendees will include ministers of state, Members of Parliament, Chief Directors, Board Members of NITA, IT heads of government agencies, private sector ICT-based associations, IT professionals, academia, technology institutions, and the general public.
