Edward Debrah recognized in prestigious Environment 100 list

Edward Debrah, a Chartered Environmentalist and Sustainability Professional and former Chair of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) Ghana, Founder of ED Consults Limited and Convenor of The Safety Profit Foundation, has been honored with a spot on the esteemed Environment 100 list of Chartered Environmentalists in the UK.

The Environment 100 list celebrates individuals who are making significant strides in environmental sustainability.

This recognition highlights those who are leading the charge in fostering a greener and more sustainable future through innovation and dedication.



Edward Debrah’s career boasts impressive milestones, including his role in managing Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSSEQ) practices for Puma Energy and Blue Ocean Investments.

His active support and participation ensured Puma Energy’s retail footprint in Ghana expanded from 42 stations in November 2016 to 85 by December 2017.

He spearheaded and managed the acquisition of key licenses for the development of a cutting-edge multi-purpose fuel terminal in Tema and ensured no compliance and regulatory breaches for all Puma Energy operations in Ghana from 2013 to 2019.

As a Country Manager for NMS Infrastructure Limited, he supported the ambitious plan of completing and delivering important healthcare projects including the Fomena, Kumawu and Takoradi European hospitals from 2021 to 2022.

A Chartered Environmentalist and Sustainability Professional with the Society for the Environment, a Full member of IEMA and a Certified Member of IOSH, Edward is on track to achieve Chartered Status (CMIOSH) within the year. He holds an MBA in Oil and Gas Management from Coventry University, and a Master of Laws in Sustainable Development from the University of Aberdeen, UK.

In 2019, Edward founded ED Consults Limited, a consultancy focused on HSEQ training, management system development, audits, and regulatory compliance. His firm also backs IOSH’s “No Time to Lose Campaign,” which works to prevent occupational cancers in Ghana.

Currently, Edward serves as the HSEQ Manager – FIS (part of Augean Group) in Northumberland, England. In this role, he provides expert advice on HSEQ management, training, conducts risk assessments, performs ISO standard audits, and ensures compliance with waste management and health & safety legislation.

Edward is also the immediate past Chair of IOSH Ghana, Committee members of Environment Waste Management Group, IEMA Scotland, IIRSM Ghana, Regional Committee Member of HSPC and Immediate Past Advisory Member of the American Society of Safety Professionals.
