The Minister for Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has commended Nana Akua Dosoo Maafo, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Builders.Com, a Ghanaian building construction firm, for her company’s outstanding work in reconstructing houses at Apiatse following the devastating mine explosion that ravaged the town.

As the keynote speaker at the Busia Institute Lecture held at Takoradi Technical University, the Minister praised Builders.Com’s contributions to the reconstruction efforts, highlighting their role in providing shelter for the affected residents.

The Minister’s commendation signifies a significant milestone for indigenous Ghanaian companies, demonstrating their capacity to deliver high-quality construction projects and contribute to national development.

It also underscores the government’s commitment to supporting local businesses and promoting private sector involvement in addressing the country’s housing challenges.

In her contribution to the lecture during a fireside chat, Nana Akua Dosoo Maafo, on behalf of the private captains of industry in the housing and rural development sector, expressed deep joy over the government’s new approaches towards housing in the country and praised the Minister for the rich contents of his lecture.

“Honourable Minister, your presentation is not only deep and brilliant, it also evokes hope and optimism for the private sector in housing,” she noted.

The event, themed “Housing the Future: Innovative Approaches to Rural Development in Ghana,” saw the Minister announce a flagship programme, the “District Housing Project,” aimed at revolutionising the housing sector through private sector involvement in financing and construction.

The project will focus on green housing, utilising local, durable materials to ensure affordability and dignity.

Mr. Anane Agyei, Executive Director of the Busia Institute, also expressed his delight at Builders. Com’s performance, stating that the company exemplifies the capabilities of Ghanaian companies in achieving remarkable success.

‘The decision to select the theme under discussion was partly informed by the brilliant performance of Builders.Com, an Indigenous Ghanaian construction firm that has transformed the erstwhile Apiatse Village into a city. Make the above statement a suitable quote for a newspaper report. It should be deep, comprehensive, formal, informative and professional,’ he noted.

The Minister’s commendation and the announcement of the District Housing Project underscore the government’s commitment to innovative and sustainable housing solutions, acknowledging the critical role of Indigenous firms like Builders.Com in driving progress. This recognition is expected to boost confidence in local businesses and encourage further investment in the housing sector.
