Gold Fields Ghana Foundation to hand over T n A park, Aug 16, 2024

On Friday, August 16, 2024, all sports enthusiasts within the country and beyond, are expected to witness the handing over of the much anticipated Tarkwa and Abosso (TnA) Sports Stadium in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality of the Western Region.

The US$ 16.2million environmentally friendly stadium, fully funded by Gold Fields Ghana Limited, through the Gold Fields Ghana Foundation, has a design sitting capacity of 10,400, an improvement over the previous seats of 400.



Works on the stadium, which started in the last quarter of 2020 by Micheletti and Co. Ltd ‘main contractor’ assisted by Green Grass Technology has been completed and will be handed over to the National Sports Authourity and managed by the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly.

These Authourities, are coming up with a plan that would be totally different from the way other stadia, have been managed in the past.

“It is a legacy project which Gold Fields believes will foster unity, bring communities together, help groom talents and provide a platform for socio-economic development, which will open up the area for business to thrive as well boost the local economy” the Executive Secretary of Gold Fields Foundation Mr. Abdel Razak Yakubu told the B&FT in an interview.

“On the D-day, there would be speeches, commissioning, ceremonial game between Gold Fields employees and Professional Footballers Association of Ghana..

Also, in the evening, there’s going to be a football game between the Medeama Sporting Club and Kotoko” he said. Tarkwa based music artistes will entertain the patrons at the event. International acts expected to grace the occasion include Fameye and Samini.

He concluded that the Sports Minister, CEO of Chamber of Mines, Western Regional Minister among others will be in attendance.
