As the world gears toward achieving a green economy, businesses are being encouraged to explore diverse ways to thrive.
This, the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) has said, hinges on adaptability and innovation.
Delivering his remarks at the GNCCI Business Awards 2024 official launch, president of the Chamber Dr. Clement Osei Amoako noted that the commitment to a green economy requires businesses to adapt, innovate and collaborate with stakeholders and other businesses to thrive.
In a world that is changing at an unprecedented pace, adaptability and innovation are not just buzzwords – they are necessities. Adaptability is the ability to adjust and thrive in the face of new challenges. Innovation is the spark that lights the way forward, and collaboration is the glue that binds these efforts together.
“Today, we find ourselves at a pivotal moment when our commitment to a green economy is more crucial than ever. Our theme underscores the importance of working together to navigate these changes, driving progress while safeguarding our planet,” he said.
Themed ‘Adaptability and Innovation in a Green Economy through Collaboration’, the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry Business Awards’ 4th edition is scheduled to take place on 27th September 2024 as the event has stalled since the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year’s event, Dr. Amoako indicated, signifies a milestone in the Chamber’s journey toward recognising and celebrating excellence in business across Ghana, adding that the GNCCI Business Awards is not merely about accolades but a testament to the dedication, innovation and resilience that define the country’s vibrant business community.
“I am filled with anticipation for the opportunity to showcase the remarkable achievements of our entrepreneurs, enterprises and visionaries. These awards will shine a spotlight on those who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, created jobs, driven economic growth and made lasting contributions to our nation’s prosperity,” he added.
According to Prince Ackuaku, Chairman-4th Chamber Business Awards, the focus on a green economy underscores the importance of sustainable development in ensuring a prosperous future for the country and world at large.
Speaking to the theme, Mr. Ackuaku stated that this year’s is both timely and essential as businesses navigate the complexities of a rapidly evolving global landscape.
“It is crucial that we embrace adaptability and innovation as the cornerstones of our growth. Adaptability is the key to thriving in an ever-changing environment. Our ability to pivot, respond to new challenges and seize emerging opportunities determines our success. We must continue to foster a culture where agility and responsiveness are embedded in our business practices.
“As we transition to a green economy, innovation will be vital in developing sustainable practices, reducing our environmental footprint and creating new industries and job opportunities.
“Partnerships between businesses, private sector players, government, academia and civil society are essential in driving the systemic changes needed for sustainable development. Let us embrace collaboration as a fundamental principle in all our endeavours,” he added.
