Access Bank, IT Consortium collaborate to support UGMC

Access Bank Ghana through a collaborative effort with IT Consortium made a presentation of GHS 100,000 to UGMC last Wednesday to support the construction of a modern Clinical Trials Laboratory.

Josephine Arthur, zonal Head of Retail Banking at Access Bank, in her address, stated that, the Bank is not only interested in providing premium banking services to customers but also concerned about their well-being, thus, the reason for supporting this noble cause.

Business Development Manager at IT Consortium, Joojo Esua-Mensah, also highlighted his company’s passion for health care delivery in Ghana as the reason for reaching out to the corporate world to offer their support to this project.



Professor George Boateng Kyei, in his capacity as Director of Medical and Scientific Research UGMC, while expressing gratitude to both Access Bank and IT Consortium for their efforts, stated that the Clinical trial unit will be one of a kind in West Africa, helping with new methodologies to treat cancer, autoimmune, and cardiovascular diseases.

“Right now, most of those trials are done in Europe and America, and a little bit in South Africa’’ he added. ‘’The era of chemotherapy which kills a lot of other cells will soon fade out’’ he continued.
