The Rotary Club of Accra-Legon has announced the assumption of office of Rotarian Kwesi Fui Acolatse as the 11th President since the club was chartered in 2013.
The handover ceremony, held at the Christ the King Parish Hall, was attended by distinguished guests, Rotarians, family, and friends who gathered to celebrate this significant milestone in the club’s history.
Mr Acolatse brings a wealth of experience and passion to his new role, having been an active member of the Rotary Club of Accra-Legon for several years. As President, he will lead the club’s efforts in volunteering skills and resources to address pressing community needs.
His leadership will focus Rotary International’s areas of focus which includes promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, saving mothers and children, supporting education, growing local economies, and protecting the environment.
In his inaugural speech, President Acolatse shared his vision for the upcoming year, emphasizing the importance of community service and the impact that Rotarians can have in making a difference. “The Rotary Club of Accra-Legon is no longer a young club; we have to admit this to ourselves.
We have made an impact, changed the world, and became the light to those we have come across in the spirit of Rotary. And this year, we must do more through the Magic of Rotary,” said President Acolatse.
He outlined several key initiatives that the club will undertake in the coming year, including continuing and completing the ADMA Basic School Computer Lab Project, which was started by the club’s immediate past president, Jaden Cyril Adjei and aims to equip the school with a state-of-the-art computer lab to enhance students’ learning experiences.
Through his leadership, the club will become a voice in saving the environment, especially in these times of global warming, through various community-based projects aimed at promoting environmental sustainability. The club’s other projects would focus on improving the health and wellbeing of targeted communities, ensuring access to essential services and promoting healthy lifestyles.
President Acolatse emphasized the importance of collaboration and fellowship in achieving these goals. “We will do these together in the fellowship of Rotary and hand in hand with our fellow Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors, and our private as well as corporate collaborators.”
The Rotary Club of Accra-Legon looks forward to a productive year under the leadership of President Acolatse, continuing its legacy of service above self and making a positive impact on the community.
