The ASA Savings and Loans has donated crucial medical equipment to Dansoman Polyclinic in line with the company’s drive to contributing to strengthening the health sector, as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative.

This contribution, according to officials of ASA, will now enhance the clinic’s capacity to provide quality healthcare to the community.

The donated items include an oxygen cylinder, a standing blood pressure (BP) machine, two sets of glucometers, two sets of flow meters, an x-ray viewer, a ketometer, a nebulizer machine, a digital weighing scale, and two sets of otoscopes.

Additionally, ASA provided a nebulizer with a mask, three sets of 3-in-1 stethoscopes, two pieces of 4-foldable ward screens, a drip stand, two sets of ambu bags for children, a digital sphygmomanometer, two large waste bins, six airways, 20 dorsiflexes, and 30 nasogastric (NG) tubes.

The Odorkor Area Manager of ASA, Madam Mercy M.S. Adzie, explaining the rationale behind the donation said, “Dansoman Polyclinic was chosen because it is the only public polyclinic serving the people of the Ablekuma Central Municipality and the environs of Dansoman.

“We hope these items will empower the staff and medical team of the facility towards achieving SDG Goal 4: Good health and well-being,” she stated.

The Acting Medical Superintendent of Dansoman Polyclinic, Dr. Felicia Anderson, expressed her gratitude upon receiving the donation. “Today is an important day for us. We have lacked these essential items to ensure effective health delivery. This is the first time, as the head of this facility, that I have witnessed a corporate body donate such a variety of health equipment.”

The Principal Health Administrator, Hannah Imbiw, highlighted the impact of the donation, particularly noting the significance of the glucometers, X-ray viewer, stethoscopes, and oxygen cylinder.

“May the good Lord bless the management of ASA and replenish where you took this fund from. We promise to put them to good use,” she added.

This donation from ASA Savings and Loans, the CSR and Sustainability Manager of ASA, Richard Nartey, said emphasizes the critical role that corporate bodies can play in supporting healthcare facilities, contributing significantly to the well-being of the communities they serve.

He said the company is focusing on four SDGs this year: SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).

Nartey explained that ASA’s focus on empowering women, who make up over 90 percent of its credit recipients for petty trading activities, plays a significant role in addressing poverty.

In terms of health, ASA targets donations to health facilities in need of basic equipment. “We support health facilities that need basic equipment to work, contributing significantly to the health and well-being of community members,” Nartey said.
