Dr. Stephen Kojo Sackey elevated to Assistant Commissioner for Social Development at United Nations International Mission

Ambassador Dr. Stephen Kojo Sackey, a UN Eminent Goodwill Peace Ambassador and Africa Development Focal Point to the United Nations-IAWPA, has been officially elevated to the prestigious position of Assistant Commissioner for Social Development at the United Nations International Mission in the United States.

Dr. Sackey, a prominent media personality, is recognised for his extensive contributions in the fields of humanitarian aid, peace and security, essential services and youth-led climate action initiatives.

In his new role, Dr. Sackey will oversee critical programmes aimed at bolstering social development across various sectors. His responsibilities include coordinating humanitarian aid efforts, enhancing peace and security measures, ensuring the provision of essential services and spearheading climate action initiatives with a strong focus on youth involvement.

His leadership in these areas is expected to drive significant progress in addressing some of the world’s most pressing challenges.

Dr. Sackey has been actively engaged in the UN/CSO Kenya, Nairobi delegate impact coalition session, where he has focused on developing effective conflict prevention mechanisms, resolution strategies and peace-building efforts to strengthen the United Nations system. His work in these sessions underscores his commitment to fostering global peace and security.

Dr. Sackey’s exceptional leadership and dedication have earned him international acclaim, culminating in his nomination for the Young Exceptional Pan-African Leader award. This prestigious award, to be presented in July 2024 at the upcoming summit, honours his unwavering dedication to humanitarian services, community engagement, the UN-SDG 2030 campaigns, Africa’s Agenda 2063 and his steadfast advocacy for peace and security. His exemplary contributions have garnered admiration from Ghana, Africa and the international community.
