National Fire Service launches Fire Safety Awards

The Ghana National Service (GNFS) in an initiative to intensify Fire Safety awareness across the country has officially launched a comprehensive program to honour individuals and organizations who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to Fire Safety in 2024.

At a brief but impressive ceremony at the National Fire Service Headquarters, the Chief Fire Officer (CFO), Mr. Julius A. Kuunuor said the award is to honour excellence in high Fire Safety performance.

The CFO explained that the award is also meant to protect businesses to enable them operate in conducive atmosphere, “In all our endeavours safety takes precedence”, he stressed.

He said Fire Safety is very vital in our homes, workplaces and indeed everyone’s responsibility to co-operate with National Fire Service to ensure fire free society. He also commended officers and men of the National Fire Service for helping to minimize fire hazards in the country. Fire Safety is a fundamental aspect of Human lives and requires constant vigilance and dedicated practices.

Representatives of the National Safety Award Committee, Mr. Joseph Narnor, gave an overview and perspective which include the Best Safety Performance in Manufacturing, and Best Safety Performance in Construction and many other relevant institutions as classified. He urged all the prospective institutions to meet the requirement of the Award’s Committee. The Guest of Honour, was Dr. Stephen Ankamah Lomortey, a Lecturer of Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), and a Consultant.

He reiterated the significance of Fire Safety in all our endeavours and urged the prospective, individuals and organizations to always observe Fire Safety.

Application for entries will be opened to the public 1st July, 2024 and the climax of the awards is in October, 2024.
