Management and staff of GCB Bank PLC. have paid a courtesy call on the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, as part of this year’s Eid-ul Adha celebrations.
The visit, according to Emmanuel Odartey Lamptey, Deputy Managing Director, Operations of the bank, not only signifies his outfit commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) but to also express profound appreciation for the Chief Imam’s leadership and contribution to humanity and Ghana.
“The Chief Imam has played a significant role in national development, so we here today to pay a courtesy call on him. This is the season of sacrifice, and we view his leadership as a form of sacrifice; therefore, we are here as GCB Bank to pay him respect.
“We have been doing this and we also view it as a form of sacrifice, so we do this through our corporate social responsibility. Therefore being here today is a form of us taking more inspiration from the Chief Imam – from his exemplary leadership, and we are inspired to do more to support the economic growth of Ghana,” he noted.
Mr. Odartey Lamptey led the group to present items typical of Eid celebrations; such as bags of rice, oil and sheep, as well as a cash donation to the Imam’s office.
“This is a token from the Board, Managing Director and executive management, and all of us at GCB bank to support the office of the chief Imam in this season.
“As a bank, we have gained a lot of inspiration from you. That is why we value dearly our corporate social responsibility. We view our CSR as a form of sacrifice, and every time we have been here we have gotten a lot of motivation from you to do more in terms of contributing to Ghana’s socio-economic wellbeing,” he added.
In return, Sheikh Nuhu Sharubutu expressed appreciation to the organisation for their continuous support to his office during such festivities, and prayed Allah’s blessings for the bank to continue thriving.
As a ritual, the Chief Imam’s household feeds thousands of people during such festivities – and donations such as this go to support the deed.
In his opening remarks, the bank’s Deputy Managing Director-Operations also assured of the bank’s resolve to continue serving in the communities where it operates.
“I want to assure you that we will continue to support our Muslim brothers and sisters, and all of our clients, in terms of providing banking solutions to them; and also in terms of the various initiatives in communities such as education, health and environmental protection.
“We will continue to make the required scarifies in providing schools, health facilities and many other aspects throughout the country’s development.”
