Standard Chartered Executive Vice-Chairman pays working visit

Torry Berntsen, Executive Vice-Chairman, Corporate & Investment Banking, Europe, Americas, the Middle East & Africa is in the country for a two-day working visit from 12-14 June.

While in Ghana he engaged with broad range of stakeholders including the Bank’s clients, regulator and community partners. He would also interact with employees of the Bank.

The visit underscores the importance of Ghana to Standard Chartered Group and its commitment to continue to invest in Ghana, while supporting the socio-economic development of the country.



Torry has an extensive and diverse career in banking and financial services. In his role he the strategic direction, governance oversight, and guidance of the Bank’s operations across the footprint.  In addition, he serves as Chairperson for the Supervisory Board of Standard Chartered Bank AG which is headquartered in Frankfurt; a member of the Management Board of Directors for Standard Chartered GBS Poland; and, also on the Board of Directors of Zodia Custody Ltd and Zodia Markets Holdings Ltd.

Prior to his current role, Torry was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Standard Chartered for Europe & Americas and was responsible for all aspects of the Region, providing leadership on strategy, client relationships, risk management, governance, and regulatory

engagements. Torry is passionate about building long-term client relationships, developing talent, reinforcing a commitment to culture and values, and embedding diversity and inclusion as core pillars of an organization.

Torry’s visit comes on the back of other high profile senior executives who visited Ghana last year including Group Board Chairman Jose Vinals and Group Chief Executive Bill Winters.
