Mr. Acheampong brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having spent 36 years at VALCO where he ascended to the position of CEO in January 2014; a role he held until his retirement in July 2023. Throughout his tenure Mr. Acheampong demonstrated exemplary leadership, culminating in the recent commissioning of a state-of-the-art steam boiler named in his honour.

Before his appointment as CEO, Mr. Acheampong served as Deputy CEO in charge of Human Resources and Administration, Public and Legal Affairs, and as Director of Human Resources and Administration at VALCO. His extensive background in human resource management and strategic leadership has garnered him respect within the Ghanaian business community and global aluminum industry.

Mr. Acheampong’s contributions extend beyond VALCO. He served as President of the Ghana Employers’ Association (GEA) from 2018 to 2024 and as President of the Institute of Human Resource Management Practitioners, Ghana (IHRMP) from 2007 to 2011. His leadership roles on various boards, including the National Labour Commission and Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), further highlight his commitment to corporate governance.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Acheampong expressed his honour and commitment to transforming Petrosol: “We will do whatever it legitimately takes to positively transform the company to take its rightful place on the Ghanaian market and beyond. Continuous improvement in the corporate world is the name of the game”.

Petrosol’s CEO, Michael Bozumbil, praised Mr. Acheampong’s alignment with the company’s core values and his leadership qualities, stating: “We are delighted to have such a distinguished corporate leader to chair the reconstituted Board of PETROSOL. His personal values perfectly align with PETROSOL’s core values of integrity, ethical conduct, professionalism and respect for the environment”.

Petrosol operates a network of over 100 fuel stations across Ghana and supplies bulk petroleum products to various consumers. The appointment of Mr. Acheampong is seen as a strategic move to drive the company’s ambitious plans for the next decade.
