St. Paul’s Lutheran, Kanda celebrates AU Day

In observance of the African Union’s Day celebration this year, the St Paul’s Lutheran School displayed the rich culture of the various African countries with a colorful ceremony which focused on the theme: “The Africa We Want”.

The school, which can boast of pupils from different countries, celebrated the diversity of cultures and the formation of the organization of African Unity. In honor of the African Day, the pupils showcased the various African flags in a well-staged marching in front of the school. The celebration saw the commemoration of the establishment of the African Union and the achievements made by various leaders on the continent.

The event, which started with a carnival from the school’s driveway to the main school premises saw the Pre-School represented Ghana and Nigeria and from Basic 1 to 8 representing an African country. In all, there were about 25 African counties whose flags were hoisted.

The day was celebrated with joy and passion by pupils and students of the school with some invited dignitaries present. The school celebration was climaxed with a number of activities such as cultural performances, fashion show, showcasing the rich African fabrics, designs and food. The occasion was spiced with eye-catching activities including singing of anthems, poetry recitals, and class inspection among others.
