GLICO Healthcare has launched its 20th anniversary, celebrating two decades of unwavering commitment to providing quality healthcare solutions for individuals, families and corporate entities.
Part of the launch was an announcement of the ‘Retirees Health Plan’, a comprehensive healthcare package designed to cater to the specific needs of retirees; ensuring their well-being and peace of mind during their golden years.
Since its inception, GLICO Healthcare has been at the forefront of innovation and excellence in the private health insurance sector.
Speaking at the event, Chief Executive-National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr. DaCosta Aboagye, said it is important to acknowledge the important role GLICO plays in Ghana’s sustainable healthcare – adding that through its innovative initiatives and steadfast commitment to excellence, GLICO Healthcare has set a benchmark for quality healthcare provision.
Dr. Aboagye commended them for their contributions to the healthcare sector, emphasising the importance of collaboration in ensuring sustainable healthcare for all.

Challenges facing the healthcare sector are complex and multifaceted, and it is only through collaborative efforts between government, private sector entities like GLICO Healthcare and other stakeholders that we can overcome these challenges and build a healthier future for our nation,” he said.

Mr. Kyei, speaking on the inception of GLICO Healthcare, said it was motivated by a strategic vision to evolve GLICO into a comprehensive hub, offering a wide range of insurance services, fostering customer loyalty and delivering accessible, high-quality solutions to corporate organisations, groups and individuals in Ghana.

Retirees Health Plan
This innovative plan will offer comprehensive healthcare coverage tailored specifically for retirees, ensuring their well-being and peace of mind during their golden years. The beauty of this unique offering is that members will have the opportunity to build up funds at agreed intervals as they approach retirement age – enabling them to enjoy the policy’s benefits on retirement.
Accordingly, members may start paying health insurance premiums from 55 years to their retirement at 60 and enjoy the comprehensive benefits for the next 5 years. This helps to ensure that their early retirement healthcare needs are covered.
