Isaac Kwamina Afful, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate for the Shama constituency in the Western Region, has promised the people Chiefs of huge development if voted as the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area come December 7, 2024.
According to him, developing the entire Shama constituency remains his top most priority, and will ensure it becomes achievable when he gets the nod to represent his people.
Mr. Afful was speaking to the chiefs and opinion elders of Upper and Lower Inchaban, Abuesi, Dwomo, Ituma, Nyankrom, Shama Junction, Graveldo and Nkwanta Kesedo during a visit to officially introduced himself as the new Parliamentary Candidate of the NPP, and then ask approval to campaign on their land as well as seek for their blessings ahead of the December 7, 2024 general elections.
The chiefs and their elders outlined their difficulties and implored the NPP candidate to help meet their demands when given the nod.
In his response, Mr. Afful, who is also the CEO of Lower Pra Rural Bank PLC noted that even though the area has seen some kind of development under the incumbent MP, he believed he has what it takes to do more when given the mandate.
“You are aware I have already provided some development projects in the area including an ultramodern police station, educational facilities constructed Library and stocked with books, computer laboratory, toilet and health facilities among others” he pointed out.
“Now I am offering myself as the NPP’s candidate for Shama because I think, I can do better than what I have already done so far”, he added.
He noted that a lot of work needs to be done in the area of sanitation, drainage, road infrastructure and most importantly, the growing rate of youth unemployment.
He assured them of providing a health center at Assokor, complete the Inchaban market and develop the Anankor River into a tourist site to help boost tourism and the economy in the area.
Mr. Afful, who is also the Guantuahen of Shama Traditional Area, with the stool name as Nana Kwamina Dekye I, described himself as an affable and humble person who listens and will be able to articulate the views of the people as their leader.
He was hopeful of winning the Parliamentary election by 70 per cent because, he has been engaging with the people for a long time and that it was the wish of the people to see him lead.
Almost all the Chiefs, including Nana Kwamena Ekutan II of Lower Inchaban, Nana Ajoa Mankrado V, of Upper Inchaban and Nana Akosua Mfranse II, Chief of Lower Inchaban were hopeful that the candidate would retain the seat for the NPP because of his good track record.
It would be recalled that in the last Parliamentary primary of the NPP in the Shama constituency, Mr. Afful secured 363 votes to defeat the incumbent NPP MP, Erickson Abekah who had 248 votes.
