PureTrust provides free health services to 523 residents of North Gonja District

PureTrust Foundation LBG, a livelihood, advocacy, social services and community foundation support non-profit organisation, held a two-day medical outreach at Kupoto in the North Gonja District.

The outreach, which saw about 523 residents receiving free health services in partnership with Global Brigade and the District Health Directorate of North Gonja District, aimed at providing free medical care to the residents of North Gonja District.

The programme focused on various aspects of healthcare, including health, education, preventive measures and access to medical services in ensuring quality healthcare delivering. The organisation works on several thematic areas, including, health, education, business development, financial inclusion, among others.



To ensure the maximum impact of the outreach in the targeted communities, PureTrust implemented targeted awareness campaigns using various media channels. These campaigns were carried out using community mobilisation and local radio stations to disseminate essential health information and create more awareness. These campaigns effectively increased awareness of the programme and encouraged community members’ participation.

Chief Executive Officer of Pure Trust Foundation Haibi Haruna said promoting inclusive development through active citizenship, community action and smart philanthropy is the core mandate of establishing the organisation. “We are committed in ensuring the well-being of citizens within our operational areas to end poverty in the rural communities especially,” he said.

He noted that the health screening and the outreach programmes forms part of the corporate social responsibility to compliment government policy on quality health delivery for citizens. “As part of our efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal three (SDG-3) which calls for ‘Good Health and Well-being’ for citizens, we would be embarking on the programme annually to ensure all access quality healthcare,” he said.

Bagya Vug Amaama, a beneficiary of the outreach, commended the organisation and the partners for the gesture, saying: “The programme has helped us to know their health status while others were provided medicines to improve on their health. Without this exercise, I would not have known that I am very sick and needed some medical treatment,” she said.

The Agriculture and Livelihood Officer for PureTrust Foundation at Daboya, the North Gonja District capital, Amoah Mohammed Awal, also said the organisation would continue to liaise with the private sector to provide free medical treatment for persons within the rural communities.

Mr. Awal expressed gratitude to the District Health Directorate as well as the residents of Kupoto and other communities within the North Gonja District for their collaboration and contribution to making the programme a success.
