Japan Motors Trading Company Ltd. (JMTC) has handed over brand-new 3-wheel vehicles to both the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) and Ministry of Fisheries & Aquaculture Development (MoFAD) to support the celebration of this year’s National Farmers’ Day.
According to the company, this donation forms part of its corporate social responsibility initiative aimed at supporting the Agricultural sector – especially the farmers and fisherfolk who work tirelessly to feed the nation.
Mr. Abdul-Somad Alhassan Musah, Assistant MD-Japan Motors, accompanied by Mrs. Mabel Offei, Marketing Manager-JMTC, were at both ministries to make the donation on behalf of the company.
Handing over the donation, Mr. Abdul-Somad Alhassan Musah said the company is always proud of consistently supporting MOFA and the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development in motivating our gallant farmers through the Farmers’ Day donation.
He emphasised that Japan Motors, in its effort to give more to the agricultural sector, has ensured there’s innovation in its operation – and has ventured into assembling automobiles which will be useful for best farming practices.
“Now we are considering the production of fibre-glass boats to ensure sustainability of the fishing industry, considering fibre-glass as a cheaper alternative to wood. We hope to partner MoFAD on this, in order to achieve this objective of providing a green solution in the production of boats – all in a bid to make the work of fisherfolk more efficient, economical and beneficial to the nation.”
Adding her voice, Mrs. Offei, Marketing Manager-JMTC, observed that the 39th Farmers Day event’s theme, ‘Delivering smart solutions for sustainable food security and resilience’, is a wake-up call for stakeholders in the Agricultural sector to be technologically smart. And she was confident locally assembled automobile products from Japan Motors are very useful for Agriculture, hence the industry should target them for best Agricultural practices. “As a patriotic company, we will continue to partner farmers and fisherfolk with the provision of relevant automobile products to boost the sector.”
Mr. Yaw Frimpong Addo, Deputy Minister-Food and Agriculture in charge of Crops, received the donation on behalf of MOFA and thanked Japan Motors for their consistency in partnering the ministry in motivating farmers. “We believe this will not only further motivate farmers, but also give them assurance that the whole of Ghana is counting on them to produce more”.
Moses Anim, Deputy Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, received the donation on behalf of MoFAD – and said his outfit is grateful to Japan Motors for continuously coming forth with various donations to support them in motivating the fisherfolk. “We are indeed grateful because we believe that by motivating the farmers, they will be able to produce more and ensure food security. We thank Japan Motors and pray that as a company they will get more profit so they can do more of such corporate social responsibility initiatives”.
