Producers of Green Organic Fertilizers, Green Energy Ghana, have donated 320 bags of fertiliser worth GH¢32,000 to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA).

The 320 bags of fertiliser donated is to support the celebration at both national and regional levels. According to the Managing Director – Green Energy Ghana, Mark Hakvoork, the reason behind the gesture is to make quality fertiliser available to farmers.

“Our products are of good quality and contribute to high-yield crops,” he said.

He further encouraged farmers to patronise their products since it is produced in the country and affordable.

Receiving the donation on MoFA’s behalf, Deputy Minister in charge of Livestock – Mohammed Hardi Tufeiru, commended Green Energy Ghana for its contribution toward the upcoming National Farmers’ Day.

Calling on farmers to patronise organic fertilisers, he noted that most peasant and smallholder farmers find it difficult to afford inorganic fertilisers, leading to very low productivity.

Mr. Hardi Tufeiru encouraged private sectors to venture into the production of organic fertilisers as a way of contributing to sustainable environment, improved soil fertility, and to safeguard human health.

This year’s Farmer’s Day celebration will highlight the importance of sustainable agricultural practices, celebrate the contributions of farmers, and reflect on the positives.
