Samuel Kwadwo Sefah-Danquah, affectionately known as ‘Sefah’, a prominent Ghanaian radio personality is host of Happy 98.8 FM’s Happy Morning Show’ (#HappyHMS ) – socio-economic and political morning show aimed at highlighting everyday issues of Ghanaians, as well as giving people a voice. His life journey so far is one marked by perseverance, resilience and a strong commitment to his work and community.

Here’s a peek dive into the life of Sefah-Danquah.

Sefah-Danquah’s childhood was characterized by challenges, as he grew up as the fifth boy raised by a single mother. He found solace in reading, playing football, and absorbing wisdom from his grandparents. These early influences instilled in him important virtues, principles, and values.



He began his educational journey at Akoase Methodist Basic School and completed his basic education in 2002 after sitting for the BECE. Subsequently, he attended St. Michael’s Senior High School, where he pursued General Arts, focusing on subjects like Economics, Geography, History, and Twi. He completed his second cycle education in July 2005.

Sefah-Danquah’s academic pursuits led him to the University of Ghana, where he majored in Psychology and minored in History. He graduated with Second Class Honours (Upper Division) after conducting a notable research project on “Mental Illness Depiction in the Media and Psychiatric Stigma among Children.”

Sefah-Danquah’s commitment to lifelong learning is evident in his diverse training experiences. He underwent twelve weeks of intensive radio broadcasting training at RABODEF Radio Academy in Accra, Ghana, and spent a year as a Fellow of Democracy Series for Participatory Learning and Action by Youth (DESPLAY) in Abuja, Nigeria. He also participated in the African Journalists for Opportunity Training by the Institute for Liberty and Policy and the Generations for Peace Advanced Samsung Training in Amman, Jordan as a training facilitator.

His journey in the media industry began in June 2013 at now defunct Choice 102.3FM., and he envisions himself as an integral part of his organization, GMABC, contributing to its growth and success. Sefah-Danquah is known for his unwavering work ethic, passion for people, and a strong belief in fairness and honesty. He is both ambitious and patient, seeking alignment with God and nature.

Sefah-Danquah’s creative side shines through in his love for writing, including rhymes, lyrics, and poems. This talent led him to join a drama group during his basic and high school days. He is widely recognized as someone who values research and understanding of various issues, especially in the context of communication. His strong commitment to education, human development, and Pan-Africanism are also noteworthy.

Outside of his professional life, Sefah-Danquah is a family-oriented individual. He is a married man with three children – two daughters and a son. His favorite dish is the renowned Ghanaian Jollof Rice. In terms of fashion, he prefers modest and simple attire, with a particular fondness for African-themed fashion trends and kaftans.

Sefah-Danquah is a Christian and a devoted member of the Methodist Church of Ghana. While he sees himself as spiritual, he places greater emphasis on spirituality over religious rituals.

Sefah-Danquah describes himself as a mix of introvert and extrovert qualities, which he displays depending on the context. When he’s not on the radio, he enjoys reading, conducting research, and engaging in private consultations, particularly in the realm of media relations. He also dedicates time to writing articles, proofreading academic research, and spending quality time with his family.

Success, in Sefah-Danquah’s eyes, is about channeling the right energies towards set goals and achieving results that impact not only oneself but also others. His primary career goal for 2023 is to improving the listenership and enhancing marketability of the show he hosts.

Despite being a private person, Sefah does attend necessary events like weddings, naming ceremonies, funerals, and birthday parties. He occasionally gathers with close circles and clients to discuss life and business.

Sefah-Danquah offers valuable advice to the youth, emphasizing the importance of patience, persistence, hard work, dedication, integrity, and commitment as the foundation for sustained success.
