Last year, during customer service week, I was one of the sponsors of Playwright Nii Commey’s, customer service play, “Skirts and Suits” and because it was such a success, I have decided to partner with Nii Commey again, on his new play, this year, titled ‘Last Chicken in the Kitchen,’ in partnership with Stories for Change Foundation.
The play is scheduled to be staged this October at the National Theatre as part of activities to mark the second edition of the Customer Theatre Festival. As a customer service trainer, I am very passionate about the customer service conversation; what better way to illustrate its importance, than through dramedy.
The theme for customer service this year is “Team Service” and when playwright Nii Commey spoke with the media at the launch of this year’s festival, he called upon corporate Ghana to leverage the occasion to celebrate their loyal customers and staff, he further emphasised the potency storytelling wields in addressing critical issues like poor customer service.
The production manager for Handwriting Communications, Robert Annan, expounded on the play; “It is a play for everyone because everybody is a customer-whether you go to the beans’ seller or to the bank; from insurance to your mobile network…everyone is a customer, this play is for the jobseeker, the employee, the employer, the customer, and their families and friends,” Mr. Annan noted.
I would encourage everyone who is able to see the play to go and see it, not only does it promise to be a night of fun, but it also promises to deliver a key take-out message. It has become more evident that customer service is so integral to the success of our businesses that we all need to find ways to improve upon it.
Come watch the play at 630pm prompt Friday 6th October 2023 at the National Theatre. Call +233 20 556 9675 for more information about tickets.
