In a heartwarming demonstration of creating hope in communities, the Rotary Club of Accra-Ridge has extended a benevolent hand to the Nii Amugi Avenue Basic School in Adabraka, Accra. The Club, renowned for its annual commitment to uplifting educational standards, has donated a diverse array of educational materials – leaving a lasting impact on the institution.
Representing the Club president, past Assistant-Governor Leninsor Kakrabah-Quarshie passionately emphasised that this act of generosity is in alignment with the Club’s Crystal Anniversary celebrations (15 Years of Creating Hope in the World), aiming to elevate the educational landscape within the community. Ms. Kakrabah-Quarshie stressed the importance of Rotary’s overarching mission which seeks to enhance teaching and learning, ultimately nurturing responsible and high-achieving future leaders across the nation. This commitment, she assured the students, knows no bounds.
The momentous occasion was met with gratitude and enthusiasm by the school’s Headmaster, Mr. Moses K. Agbanyo, teachers and students. His heartfelt appreciation was palpable as he acknowledged the significant impact this donation will have on the school and its students. Particularly, Mr. Agbanyo highlighted the dire needs faced by some pupils, many of whom hail from underprivileged backgrounds. For these children, acquiring even a single exercise book per term is often a luxury – let alone the essential textbooks needed to facilitate their education.
Some of the educational materials donated included textbooks for teachers covering all subjects, dictionaries, student companions, exercise books, mathematical sets, pens, pencils, erasers, whiteboard markers, and graphboards complete with compasses and rulers.
The partnership between Rotary Club of Accra-Ridge and Nii Amugi Avenue Basic School showcases the transformative power of community support, and serves as a beacon of hope for students, teachers and the wider Adabraka community. Through such initiatives, Rotary continues to prove its unwavering commitment to shaping a brighter future and creating hope; a future wherein quality education is accessible to all regardless of their circumstances.
