At the grand 9th Ghana Feminine Achievement Awards held in Accra, the spotlight shone brightly on Freda Antwi, a trailblazing figure in Ghana’s hospitality sector.
The event, designed to honour exceptional women entrepreneurs across various fields, underscored the accomplishments of women while encouraging mentorship and empowerment for a prosperous economic future.
In a world where women comprise half the population but contribute only 37 percent to the global GDP, initiatives like the 9th Ghana Feminine Achievement Awards gain significance. The platform celebrated female entrepreneurs who have become integral to the country’s economic growth.
Notably, Ghana’s hospitality industry has experienced a surge in growth and tourism promotion, significantly boosting the nation’s GDP. Amid this progression, Ms. Antwi, the Chief Executive Officer of Jofel Catering Service, stood out as a driving force. Her unwavering dedication earned her the esteemed title of ‘Most Outstanding Female Entrepreneur in Hospitality’.
Ms. Antwi’s journey with Jofel Catering Service began humbly in 1982 as a snack shop in Kumasi’s Roman Hill. Through consistent growth and innovation, the establishment expanded to include lunch services, catering for an ever-expanding customer base.
Upon receiving the accolade, Ms. Antwi expressed her gratitude, stating: “I am delighted and grateful to God for 30 years in this company and the opportunity to also transform and support young entrepreneurs”. Her vision remains fixed on further enhancing Ghana’s hospitality sector.
Having finished a Master’s programme in Hospitality and Tourism at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ms. Antwi also possesses a Hospitality and Tourism certificate from Florida Atlantic University.
The 9th Ghana Feminine Achievement Awards also recognised accomplished women in diverse fields such as banking, international relations, media, corporate directorship, energy innovation, public service, and entrepreneurship education. Beyond celebrating their contributions, the awards highlighted their exceptional leadership and management skills that drive the nation forward.
