Adamus Resources Limited has empowered 87 females in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region with skills for them to be self-reliant and employed.
They were trained in areas such as beauty technology, hairdressing, cosmetic science, make up, millinery and accessories within a period of three months by the College of Beauty Arts and Entrepreneurship (CBAE).
The project, initiated by the Chief Executive officer of Adamus Resources Limited, Angela List, is under the company’s Women Empowerment (WE) project.
Alexander Mensah Hagan, General Manager of Adamus Resource Limited, who was at the graduation ceremony at Ampain in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region, said the WE project seeks to create the vital balance to reflect modern realities. “It seeks to endow our mothers, daughters, and sisters with the power to be independent”.
As a Ghanaian company, he said, Adamus will continue to contribute to the development of host communities, the region and the country as a whole.
Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, Western Regional Minister, noted that skills acquisition is key to national development.
He commended CBAE for training the women to acquire skills needed for them to be self-employed. “Hire marketing and sales consultant for these women and I will encourage the community to give them the support for them to be productive and profitable.”
Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, pointed out that “mining will be over. What is important is what the company has bequeathed you; and this should not be taken for granted”.
“Skills and entrepreneurship development are what can unlock our unemployment problem as a country,” he added.
Rebecca Donkor, CEO of College of Beauty Arts and Entrepreneurship (CBAE), encouraged the graduates to use the skills acquired to make a positive impact.
“Be confident in what you do and add value to your self to become relevant in your field of work,” she said.
Angela List commended the graduates for the sacrifice they put into the training. “Some have already secured contract and they are an inspiration. The journey as an entrepreneur will throw more challenge to you; apply whatever you have learnt here, be resilient and never give,” she said.
She encouraged them to create more employment opportunities for others to reduce unemployment rate in the host community.
“Am looking forward to working with more young women in our catchment area to make them viable,” she added.
Kwasi Bonzoh, District Chief Executive of Ellembelle, praised the company for this initiative and in helping to reduce unemployment in the area.
The graduates received start-up tools to enable them start their own business and to ensure the sustainability of the training they have acquired.
