Uber has been in the news for all the good reasons.
First of all, Uber reported an US$892million in Quarter 4 profit, topping expectations.
Secondly, Revenue grew 83 percent year on year to US$5.8billion.
As an icing on the cake, Uber advertised on the Super Bowl of the 2022 finals between Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals.
Everyone who appreciate advertisement knows that nothing comes bigger than the epic show of Super Bowl. It is the finals, normally played by the National Football League of USA.
Once more, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi did eloquently speak on the future prospects of Uber and their readiness to accept crypto-currencies when the time is right on Bloomberg.
In the course of the interview, he was asked if the Mayor of London had asked Uber to assist on how they can do away with congestion zones within the inner cities of London and which modules they can adopt in doing that.
Dara, Uber CEO, did actually answer in the affirmative that yes, they were doing that with the Mayor of London.
This is the fascinating aspect. Uber, asked by a Mayor of a city, to assist them in doing away with congestion zones.
Now if not for anything, Uber is not an urban planner, more so London has many formidable companies which have existed long before Uber.
But existing formidable companies turn not to take newer technological companies serious or perhaps, do not understand the essence of these start-up companies and how to deal with them in the quest of modification in modern era of business.
History constantly shows us that it doesn’t matter how formidable a company is and how long they have been in existence, if they fail to pay attention to the start-up companies within their times, a modification always occurs which leads to their extinction.
Now for every formidable organisation to continue to be in existence and be relevant, it has to understand that any other organisation or a start-up that emerges within their terrain and decides to take a bite of their cherry has to be taken seriously, and not to be dismissed with contempt; and the Mayor of London has clearly demonstrated how to deal with an emerging company.
